International Elders’ Day | Help Age launches SAVE campaign | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 1:HelpAge India brought together children & grandparents with the launch of its nationwide Student Action for Value Education (SAVE) campaign on the occasion of International Elders’ day. In Jammu, HelpAge India celebrated the day at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bantalab. Over 200 students from various schools Kendriya Vidyalaya Sunjwan, Navyug High School Shiv Nagar, Coventry Scholars Chinore and Anuradha Public School Bantalab proudly participated in a pledge. Pledge was administered by Chief Guest IG CRPF, Jammu Sector, Dinesh Kumar. On the occasion SAVE Anthem composed by folk singer Susmit Bhose was sung by the students. “HelpAge gave me just the opportunity to bring together generations music transcends age and it is the best way to sensitize the young” says Susmit Bhose. The progmamme was followed by cultural activities presented by the participant schools. On the occasion Principal K.V, Bantalab, Sushma Thapar presented a welcome note. Enlightening the importance of the day, HelpAge India manager Sunita Santoshi said HelpAge India brought startling fact that the highest abuses of the elderly in India were their on kin, lead by daughter in law and followed by their own son. Addressing the gathering Chief guest, IG, CRPF, Dinesh Kumar has all praise for the work of HelpAge India as well as the school children who have played a touching act regarding the emotional attachment of elders with their children and grand children.
