Extend benefits of welfare schemes to deserving class: Soz | Education is the only medium of spreading knowledge: Chib | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01: Stressing the need for implementation of various welfare schemes launched by the Central and state governments in letter and spirit for the welfare of women, Member Parliament, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz has asked to broaden their ambit in the remote and far-off areas so that the benefits percolate down to the deserving class. Prof Soz, who was chief guest on the occasion, was speaking at a one-day seminar on Need, Care and Empowerment of adolescent girls through education organized by J&K State Social Welfare Board which was sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board at SKICC here today. The Member Parliament appreciated Dr. Asha Kachroo who is daughter of the soil and said that her valuable suggestions for the welfare of women folk would be taken into consideration. He said that women have more patience and capacity to maintain the home, besides equally participation in other day-to- day affairs in public life, adding that they have to be empowered in all fields. He said GoI was committed to provide them their due share in all fields. Complimenting the organizers for organizing seminar, Minister for Medical Education Mr. R S Chib said that at adolescent age the children faced various problems and need of the hour was to give them care and proper direction. He said women are facing numerous problems, adding that education is the only way to resolve their problems. He said UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has also given due attention to resolve Women’s problem. The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for creation of Skill Development Mission in the state. He said the state government has also taken various steps for the empowerment of women. Highlighting the ambitious programmes of the State Technical Education Department, which is working on Capacity Building for sustainable growth of the state by establishing Industrial Training Institute, Polytechnics and Vocational Training Centre, he said that huge Women participation in Technical Education ismajor portion. He said that hostels are also being constructed for women candidates in these Polytechnics and many more steps have been taken for their empowerment.
