Karan bags classical instrumental (Solo) Percussion contest | GCW Gandhi Nagar’s Vandana excels in non-percussion category | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 1: Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu on Saturday organised Classical Instrumental (Solo) Percussion and Classical Instrumental (Solo) Non-Percussion contest under the ongoing “Display Your Talent” at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium here. In Classical Instrumental (Solo) Percussion, Karan Malhotra from the Institute of Management Sciences bagged the first prize while Charanpreet Singh from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts and Ashish Atri from the Department of Environmental Science, University of Jammu bagged the second and third prizes respectively. The participants presented Teen Taal “Vilimbit” an “Drut” on Tabla and were applauded by the audience on every “Sum”. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Khyam from Department of Sociology, University of Jammu and Guraseese Singh from Government College of Engineering the Technology, Jammu. K.L. Verma, Balbir Singh and John Masih, were adjudicators in Classical Instrumental (Solo) Percussion event. In Classical Instrumental (Solo) Non-Percussion, Vandana Kumari from Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu bagged the first prize. The second prize was shared by Kavita Khajuria from Government Women College, Parade and Sapna Devi from Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar. Akash Kumar from the Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur was awarded the third prize. These students presented RAGA Rageshwari, Miyan Malhar, Shudh Sarang, Bhopal, Shyam Kalyam and Yaman on various Instruments. Kulbhushan Sharma, Surinder Saproo and Raj Kumar Dogra were the experts for the Classical Instrumental (Solo) Non-Percussion. Prof. Kuldeep.K.Sharma, Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes amongst the winners in presence of Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee and Prof N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare. The programme was compeered by Pooja Langeh, Joint Secretary Students Cultural Council. Surinder Pal Sharma, Vijay Atri, Ravi Sharma, Rani Kumari, Secretary, SCC, Hardeep Singh and Sakshi were also present.
