PDP adjournment motion shakes NC Omar, Wani's resignation demanded | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 2 : PDP's adjournment motion seeking discussion on National Conference worker's alleged custodial killing and demand for Omar Abdullah's resignation has caused a stir in the NC. An emergency meeting attended by the former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his political advisor Davinder Singh Rana was held late this evening to discuss the development. However, a senior party member said the meeting was a routine affair. A PDP spokesman said that since high office of Chief Minister was apparently involved in the dubious killing of a citizen, besides the Minister of the state for home affairs, Chief Ministers staff and some officials of crime branch, the fair and impartial investigation into the unfortunate episode was need of the hour and PDP as a responsible opposition will do its best to unfold the whole incident. Taking strong note of the reports that the alleged murder has taken place on illicit transactions and misuse of power, the party reiterated its demand for resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his father and union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani. The spokesman said that this was an imperative for any free and unbiased investigation which would establish the truth and bring the culprits to book. Dismissing official versions on the incident as an eyewash and brazen effort to scuttle the truth, the spokesman said that the incident has sent alarming bells and government cannot confuse emerging public opinion on this incident which for many is self revealing. |
