Don't jump to conclusions over NC worker's death: Soz | 'Cong on right track' | | Early Times Report srinagar, Oct 2 : J&K PCC chief and veteran Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz today admitting that corruption was "deep rooted" in Jammu and Kashmir and said people should not jump to conclusions before the investigation into the mysterious death case of a ruling National Conference worker, allegedly in police custody, is completed. "There should not be an urgency in reaching the conclusions. There will be an investigation. Truth is so strong that no one can hide it," Soz said. Soz, who presided over Gandhi Jayanti function at the Congress party headquarters, said the party was on the right track and its image will not be tarnished. Syed Mohammad Yousuf, an NC worker from south Kashmir's Anantnag district, died allegedly in police custody last week after two fellow party workers had accused him of taking Rs 1.18 crore from them for getting them berths in the legislative council. . Soz, however, admitted that corruption was deep-rooted in the state. "Corruption is very deep-rooted here, there is no doubt about that," he said. Earlier, Congress district president for Srinagar Abdul Gani Khan said at the function said that the "incident" would tarnish the image of the Congress, which is the partner in the National Conference-led coalition government.
