NC worker's custodial death

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2 : Amid the fresh political storm triggered over custodial death of NC worker, while principal opposition PDP is all set with an offensive against ruling rival NC,the latter is preparing itself for a defensive strategy needed at least on the floor of Assembly where the PDP has come up with an adjournment motion on the issue. Major ally in the coalition Congress, as always, has maintained silence, rightly or wrongly, choosing not to become 'trouble shooter' for the partner. There is neither word nor any statement from the Congress colleagues in cabinet for a worried and harried lot of NC. On the contrary, Congress feels the incident has further 'damaged' its image in the state.
Sources said even though the Congress camp in government has chosen silence, the matter entirely and purely of NC as a party, it finds itself on an awkward and uncomfortable footing , in the wake of the fact that PDP is all set to raise a storm in the House and would vehemently rake up the demand of resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , notwithstanding the fact a judicial enquiry has already been announced into the incident. Sources said whether or not the adjournment motion gets admitted by the Speaker, as sought by the PDP today, the latter in both the cases would be up in the arms against Cm. though their target remains NC and CM in particular, Congress camp may find it difficult to maintain complete silence in the House when opposition comes up with scathing attack and raise questions which even its ministers may not be able to answer. It is pertinent to mention that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already raised the pitch for resignation of chief minister Omar Abdullah, his close aide and MoS Nasir Aslam Wani and union minister Farooq Abdullah, pending a judicial probe into the death. The PDP leadership contends even as the enquiry has been ordered , the three leaders of NC, who are under attack and cloud of suspicion, in so far as the meeting of at least two of them with the deceased at CM's residence is concerned, could 'influence' the things in probe. With NC on the backfoot over the incident, its senior leaders have now come on the fore, trying to defend the CM , while countering opposition charges. In a bid to douse the opposition 'fire', NC is projecting it as PDPD move to politicize the issue.
What scene emerges tomorrow remains to be seen, but NC is for sure in for a big trouble , notwithstanding it defensive approach and its alliance partner Congress, despite choosing silence cannot afford to be 'mute spectator' for long.
