Band Pather, continues to enthrall audiences | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Oct 2: A new history in making is witnessed when traditional Theatre of Kashmir ‘Bhand Pather’ is shaping a new life and color in a National level Theatre workshop being organized by National Academy of Music Dance and Drama, New Delhi in collaboration with Natrang Jammu.
This is the first occasion when the traditional practioners are interacting with the experts of contemporary theatre.
The workshop is being conducted by Moti lal Kemmu who is a living legend of Kashmiri playwriting and theatre and has been conferred the highest Indian honor both in Literature and Performing arts.
Four new creative interventions are being infused through the top experts of the field.
Mushtaq Ali a prominent actor of Kashmir will work on infusing new creative energy in Bhand Acting styles.
Amin Bhatt yet another celebrated and critically acclaimed name of theatre will work on the possibilities of new innovations of direction in Bhand Theatre.
Senior Kashmiri playwright Sajood Sailini will work on the exploration of new scripts in Bhand style of writings. Bhawani Bashir who himself is a trained graduate from National School of Drama, New Delhi will undertake the mission of underlining strengths of traditional design and craft patterns in Bhand Theatre and will prompt new generation of Bhand performers to evolve new visual poetry. The rarest artistic happening in Kashmir is being professionally coordinated by eminent playwright and director Nissar Naseem. Balwant Thakur the chief organizer of the workshop has been exposed to the most latest developed techniques of theatre and performance and having travelled to the ultimate destinations of world theatre has structured this training module and is personally executing the implementation of this out of the world concept to rejuvenate Bhand Pather.
