Arjun Manhas from School of Bio-Technology Ju bags first prize in sketching
“Display Your Talent” 2011-12,

Under the on going Inter-Collegiate/Departmental “Display Your Talent” 2011-12, the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu today conducted Cartooning and Sketching Competitions.

In Cartooning, Arjun Manhas from The School of Bio-Technology, University of Jammu, bagged the First Prize whereas Abhay Punia from the Govt. Degree College (Boys), Kathua and Shallu Sharma from Govt. Women College, Parade fetched Second and Third prize, respectively.

The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Shivali Rani from Department of Environmental Sciences, Gourab Sharma from Department of Law, University of Jammu and Vishist Anand from Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.

The topics for the Cartooning were “Gandhi Jayanti”, “Internet”, and “Marriage Ceremony”.

In Sketching, Pushkin Kainth and Kulpreet Rana from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu were awarded First and Second prize, respectively. The Third prize was awarded to Ramesh Kumar from Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.

Arjun Manhas & Shalini Verma from The School of Bio Technology, University of Jammu, Bharti Sharma from Govt. Degree College, Akhnoor and Suresh Kumar from Govt. Degree College (boys), Udhampur, were honored with Certificates of Merit.

Manoj Chopra, Advocate Dheeraj Nanda and Dr. Atul Sharma, were the experts for both the events.

The Teacher Incharges for Cartooning and Sketching were Dr. Madhulika Bhagat and Dr. Hardeep Chahal.

Prof. Jasbir Singh, Head, Department of Economics and Programme Co-ordinator, NSS distributed the Prizes in presence of Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare,university of Jammu.Speaking on this occasion, he exhorted the younger generation to participate in the extra-curricular activities with enthusiasm as these play important role in personality development. He also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the late Prime Minister of India on their Birth Anniversary and described them as apostles of Peace & Harmony.

The programme was compeered by Rani Kumari, Secretary, Students Cultural Council.
