| CM presents Gandhi service award to Jain Acharya | | |

Essence of all religious thoughts is to discipline human beings inculcating in them spirit of live and let live in a cooperative phenomenon creating harmonious and peaceful society, said Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad while presenting Gandhian award to Jain Acharya Dr. Shri Shiv Muniji Maharaj here today on behalf of Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Pramod Jain, activists of Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj, Mrs. and Mr. M. M. Joshi, Mrs. S. P. Verma, Mr. Ashok Jain, Mr. Giat Nandan Jain, Mr. Susheel Jain and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir has always been abode of different religious thoughts and every faith nurtured here in a conducive atmosphere. State’s pluralistic cultural ethos itself speaks volumes about the amity, secular fabric and brotherhood that has remained hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
“This characteristic of people of Jammu and Kashmir made the grand great leader and father of nation Mahatma Gandhi to say that he sees a ray of hope in Jammu and Kashmir. Gandhiji spoke these words when entire sub-content was burning in the communal frenzy and Jammu and Kashmir was spreading message of brotherhood, tolerance and communal amity”, he said.
Lauding the efforts and contribution of Jain Acharya Dr. Shri Shiv Muniji Maharaj and other religious personalities like him, Chief Minister said that their service to weave the warp and woof of secular fabric in the country would go in the annals of history as significant service to mankind.
Wishing peace and prosperity for people of Jammu and Kashmir, Jain Acharya Dr. Shri Shiv Muniji Maharaj praised the sincerity with which Mr. Azad is translating people-friendly and peace and progress creating initiatives into action. He showered his blessings on Chief Minister praying success in his mission to make Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful and prosperous state.
Gandhi Service Award was presented to Jain Acharya Dr. Shri Shiv Muniji Maharaj for his contribution in strengthening communal harmony, secular ethos, brotherhood, amity and peace.
Mr. Azad was also honoured on the occasion by presenting to him shawls and garlands.
Mrs. Joshi, a noted Gandhian, also spoke on the occasion and threw light on Gandhian philosophy of non-violence and activities of Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj as well as contribution of Dr. Shri Shiv Muniji Maharaj in propagating message of peace and amity. She as well as other speakers appreciated the bold steps taken by Mr. Azad during the past one year for peace, development and prosperity of the state. They said that people have great faith in Mr. Azad and prayed for him all success in realizing his mission of making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful and prosperous state.
