TUF seeks redressel mechanism for Gujjars | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 2: Questioning non-existence of grievances redressel mechanism for nomadic communities, Jammu Kashmir Tribal United Forum (TUF) today asked state government to design a concrete mechanism at all levels and departments to properly redress the difficulties faced by these marginalised communities. In order to discuss burning problems faced by Gujjars and Bakerwals, Tribal Forum organised a day long brain storming session which was attended by the intellectuals of the communities. The main issues of the Gujjar communities which were deliberated in this session included non-implementation of STs, reservation in promotion and recruitment; lapse of huge backlogs and discrimination in development of areas inhabited by Gujjars. President of TUF, Roshan Din Choudhary and Dr. Zabeer Ahmed Bajjar, General Secretary of Forum said that the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities have been facing multi-faceted problems. Exhorting the government to evolve a clear mechanism to ameliorate their sufferings, Dr. Bajjar said that the formulation of redressal mechanism policy for Gujjar & Bakerwal would surely streamline the functioning & implementation of promises of the government with their communities. Others who were present on the occasion included Tanwir Ahmed, Khursheed-Ul-Islam, Munshi Khan, Advocate Tanzir Khatana, Advocate Pervaiz Choudhary, Sardar Khan and Advocate Zaffer Choudhary. |
