| Speaker distributes ReT orders at Khour | | | Jammu, Dec 7 Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand reiterated the resolve of Government to provide all basic facilities to the people of State especially in rural areas. He said that the coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has accorded priority to uplift the living conditions of poor and downtrodden and adequate measures have been initiated in this direction. While addressing a largely attended public meeting at Khour today, Mr. Tara Chand said that the Government has handled the issue of rehabilitation of border migrants tactfully and ensured better post-rehabilitation scenario. Central Government have liberally funded to upgrade the damaged infrastructure due to border shelling and comprehensive relief package has already been distributed to affected people of border areas. He assured the people that ownership papers of plots for alternate shelters alongwith cash payment of Rs. 50,000 to the people of zero line would be distributed shortly. He also assured the people that efforts are on to provide free ration for six months and cash relief for those whose land falls across the ditch and are not cultivating the land. A proposal in this regard has been forwarded to the Central Government. On the issue of addressing the problem of unemployment, Mr. Tara Chand said that maximum avenues of employment would be generated in near future. He said that unemployment problem is being confronted worldwide adding that youth should opt for other means of income like setting up of their own income generating units for which the government has launched massive programmes and all national and scheduled banks provide financial assistance with substantial component of subsidy the Speaker maintained. Responding to people’s demand regarding paucity of staff in schools, the Speaker said that the Government has referred various posts of lecturers in different streams to Public Service Commission (PSC) and likely to complete the selection process shortly. The vacant posts would be filled after the completion of selection process and study of students would not be allowed to hamper, he added. To improve drinking water position in Khour, Mr. Tara Chand apprised the gathering that 20 new tube-wells would be dug during the current year. He hoped that with the construction of these tube-wells the water scenario would change in the Khour block. Mr. Tara Chand directed the officers to redouble their efforts to complete the on-going schemes within the stipulated period. He also asked the people to activate the village level development committees to monitor the quality of developmental works at the ground level. Later he distributed regularization orders to 32 Rehaber-e-Taleem teachers of Khour block who had completed five years service. He asked the teachers to work with zeal and dedication and impart quality education to the children and prepare them to face the future challenges. The meeting was also addressed by local leaders including Th. Puran Singh, Mr. Suram Singh, Mr. Milkhi Ram, Mr. Sardhari Lal and others. |
