The members from both communities from last so many decades not only turn up to witnesses the famous scenes from one of the world’s greatest epic Ramayana, but the members from Muslim community also enact some important roles in Ram Leela at Kishtwar besides composing background music as well. Like from past so many years, Adarsh Dramatic Club this year also organized Ram Leela Show at Ram Leela ground Kishtwar in which the centre of attraction of the audience was a 19 year old Muslim boy Umair Kamal, who not only acted in few scenes in Ram Leela but also entertained the crowds during the interval period. While talking to the Early Times, Umair Kamal said that he felt happy to be the part of annual Ram Leela show at Kishtwar. He said that he loves acting and would like to perform in any role which will be offered to him by the club. He said that it is the matter of pride for him to perform on stage in front of the large number of people. He said that he joins “Adarsh Dramatic Club” to promote communal harmony and brotherhood. Other then acting, Umair is very talented in mimicry and also entertains the crowd during interval period with his mimicry as well as with his gossips. He is also known for copying the voices of many top bollywood actors like Shahrukh Khan, Nana Patekar, Shakti Kapoor, Amresh Puri, etc and also that of world famous Cartoon character Mickey Mouse. Kishtwar which is known for its communal harmony and brotherhood since ancient time has not only transferred its identity /brotherhood to its next generations, but also transferred the art and culture, earlier it was Jai Hind Smiti club before 1970, now it is Adarsh Dramatic Club from 1970 onwards promoting the communal harmony and brotherhood by carrying forward the precious art in the form of theatre and stage shows with muslim brothers on board. It was Rehmat Ali Nagar and Mohammad Iqbal Sarkooti who composed music for Adarsh Dramatic Club in 70s and 80s, today they have been replaced by Sanjeev Sharma and Ashok Kumar. Among the Muslim if it was late Manzoor Ilahi Tak and Late Ghulam Rasool Hap who used to perform in Ram Leela in 70 and 80s now its Umair Kamal today. It was in the year 1992 when like in different parts of the state, the fire of militancy also engulfed the Kishtwar as well, as a result of which the prevailing situation forced Adarsh Dramatic Club to close its function till somehow the normalcy starts limping back in Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2003, when the Adarsh Dramatic Club once again restarted its activities and since then they continuously are organizing Ram Leela every year. Remembering the days of militancy, 55 year old Madan Bhandari said that all those year’s remains so painful that one can’t forget what happened during all those years. He said that it was painful to remain away from art and culture which we have inherited from our elders. Patron of Adarsh Dramatic Club said that he feel happy after seeing that among the audience who turned up to watch Ram Leela show belongs to Muslim community, which according to him itself speaks in volume that communal harmony is the biggest strength of the people of Kishtwar.
