AIBCU demands reservation benefits as per Mandal report
10/3/2011 9:32:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 3:All India Backward Classes Union said today that State Government must shun the prejudice ruling in the state by the misuse of Article 370 and should fairly allow the natural flow of justice to the state people in general and to the state OBCs in particular who have been suffering in J&K since long.
Addressing a press conference here today, the president AIBCU Abdul Majid Malik said that J&K is the only state in India where benefits under the Apex Court’s judgment of 1992 on Mandal Report are still being denied.
Regretting that the state Goveernment is giving only 2% reservation to state OBCs on the name of OSC (not OBCs), Malik said that OBCs question the state Govt. on what grounds 2% reservation is being given and ask the state Government to issue a white paper for the grounds on which the state OBCs are being given 2% reservation whose population in J&K is about 60%.
It has already been informed to the state Government through a memorandum to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for the most genuine demands of the OBCs and for their earliest solution but nothing has come out till date, he said.
The AIBCU leader said that the recent visit of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi was totally aiming at to ignore the state OBCs with the connivance of the state government as he did not take them into confidence.
Malik appealed the Chief Minister to accept all the demands which are quite genuine and that should be done too in one go and create a cordial atmosphere between State Government and the State OBCs.
