2 militants killed in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 3 (KNS): Two militants including Lashker-e-Toiba commander were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Kashmir Valley on Monday, official sources said. “Today at around 1015 AM on information regarding presence of militants in area of village Supathin, near Newa, Pulwama district, a joint operation was launched by the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the police. During the operation one LeT militant was killed. It is pertinent to mention that Abdul Rehman (Rehman Bhai) Pakistani National was nominated as Divisional Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba, North Kashmir also after the death of Abdullah Uni recently,” Srinagar based Defence spokesman Lt Col JS Brar said in a statement. “Abdul Rehman was active in Sopore since past 11 years and in Pulwama since 2007. One INSAS rifle, three AK Magazines, 90 rounds of AK ammunition and war like stores were recovered till reports last came in,” he added. In another encounter, he said, an unidentified militant was killed in Dardpora area in frontier district of Kupwara. “The encounter took place when soldiers confronted the militant in the forest area, 110 kms from here. The militant opened fire triggering a gunfight, leading to his death,” he added.
