| Highway remained closed for fourth consecutive day, road clearing operations on in full swing | | | Jammu,Dec 7 Traffic on the 300 km long Jammu- Srinagar National Highway continue to remain disrupted for the fourth consecutive day today even as road clearing operations were going on in full swing to clear the blockades due to landslide at several places between Ramban and Banihal. Official sources supervising the road clearing operations said that all efforts were being made to clear the blockades between Ramban and Banihal at several places at the earliest. Official sources said men and machinery of border roads organizations are working round the clock to clear the surface link to clear the stranded rush of passengers and load carriers stationed at safe zone for last four days. Official sources said if weather gods didn’t play spoilsport and restoration work continued at its peak the highway may be made traffic worthy byFriday morning. Meanwhile, official sources said that large number of stranded passengers are stationed at safe zones and efforts are afoot to clear the road at the earliest. He said no vehicle has been allowed to mpve upwards Udhampur to avoid clogging of vehicles on the National Highway. Soon after highway will be thrown open we will first clear the rush of stranded vehicles on the highway,DySP National Highway said. The final decision to allow traffic on the National Highway on Friday morning will be taken only after reviewing the road clearing operations,he added. |
