JU holds elocution contest

JAMMU, Oct 3: Elocution event was today held under the ongoing Inter-Collegiate/Departmental “Display Your Talent” 2011-12, by Department of Students Welfare at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium of the University of Jammu.
Prof. Champa Sharma, Prof. N.R. Sharma and Dr. Anupama Vohra, were the adjudicators for the foresaid event. Banday Zain-Ul-Abdeen from Department of Political Science, University of Jammu bagged first prize, Prayati Sharma from Department of Zoology, University of Jammu and Polina Singh Kala from Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu bagged the second and third prize, respectively.
Certificates of merit were awarded to Sahil Mehta from the Govt. MAM College, Jammu, Rakshit Sharma from GGM Science College, Jammu and Suman Kumari from Govt. Women College, Udhampur. Topics for Elocution were “Unemployment and Youth”, “Underage Drinking”, “HIV AIDS and Health”, “Human Cloning should be allowed”, “Population Growth in India”, “Positive effects of technology on Society” , “Mobile Phones in Classrooms”, “Gandhi’s Relevance today”, “Checking Female Feticide ”, “Youth and Identity Crisis”, “Leadership and Indian Youth” etc.
Dr. Kavita Suri was the Teacher Incharge and read the rules and regulations for the event. Programme was compeered by Bhanu Partap Singh, Member, Students Cultural Council. Among other Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. N. K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Lalit Sen, Dr. Anju Thapa, Dr. Neharika Subash, Vinay Thusoo Public Relations Officer, Rajesh Bakshi, Rani Kumari, Secretary, SCC and Hardeep Singh, were present on this occasion.
