Over 30,000 devotees pay obeisance at Merhada Mata

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 03- Over 30,000 devotees have visited and paid obeisance at the sacred temple of Merhada Mata, an attractive tourist spot in Ghordi block of the Udhampur district, on the auspicious occasion of 5th Navratra yesterday.
Merhada Mata is situated at a hillock about 15 kms from Ghordhi in tehsil Ramnagar of Udhampur district. Thousands of devotees from various parts of Ramnagar, Ghordi, Chenani, Udhampur and Jammu visit this holy place of pilgrimage throughout the year to get blessings of Merhada Mata.
As usual, the Akhand Joyti of Merhada Mata which was lit at village Ghordi on the occasion of first Navratra was taken to Merhada Mata followed by thousands of devotees in their colourful dresses chanting slogans, bhajan and kirtan.
Over thirty thousand devotees had paid obeisance at Merhada Mata alone on the auspicious occasion of 5th Navrata yesterday. Various social organizations from Ghordi, Barmeen and Udhampur are serving free langers to the visiting devotees at various locations which include Ghordi, Nalla Ghouran, Bekhetar, Ganpati, Galua and Merhada Mata during these Navratras.
Adequate arrangements of security, drinking water, power supply and health care facilities have been made by the administration during these ongoing Navratras.
Sheetla Mata temple Kotla Ganpatti temple and Pathera Mata are other religious places around Merhada Mata where thousands of devotees visit throughout the year.
The people of Ghordi demanded early construction of PMGSY road from village Ghordi to Nalla Ghouran.
The Merhada Mata Management Committee and public appreciated PHE and PDD for regular water and power supply at Ganpati, Galua and Merhada Mata since the start of Navratras.
