| Jammu cagers to contest for 5 titles today | | | ESRLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 03: Host Jammu district has qualified for finals of all the age groups and now contest for the title clash in as many as five events of ongoing inter-school divisional level basketball (boys and girls) tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services nd Sports (DYSS) at Gulshan Ground, here tomorrow.
Since only three districts each are taking part in three age groups of under-17 and under-19 in boys and girls sections as also one in boys’ under-14, Jammu has reached the finals of all the categories.
Now, in the under-19 boys and girls finals, Jammu shall take on district Samba tomorrow. Earlier, in a preliminary round match, Samba boys trounced Udhampur district 19-04. In a girls match, Samba beat Udhampur by a margin of nine points with final score on board being 25-16.
In under-17 finals, Jammu boys shall meet Kathua while host girls shall lock horns against district Samba. The Results (preliminary round): Boys: Kathua bt district Udhampur 19-10. Girls: Jammu district bt Poonch 16-10.
In under-14 age group, only two teams of Jammu and Udhampur have turned up for the competition in boys section, so both shall complete straightway in the final tomorrow.
Today’s matches were officiated by Vishal Bharati, Rajesh Bandral, Jyoti and Amarjeet Singh.
