CM should have avoided clemency for Guru: KPC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 3:-Kashmiri Pandit Conference said today that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and some members of the J&K Legislative Assembly should not have supported clemency for Afzal Guru as they have taken oath of allegiance to safeguard unity and integrity of the country. KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri while addressing his party activists at New Delhi, said that on one hand CM want retention of peace in the state to put himself in comfortable level to rule the State but on the other hand actions like advocating clemency for Afzal Guru create situations which automatically generate serious repercussions and reactions. Kashmiri stated that constitutionally elected members of state Assembly and in particularly Chief Minister should have avoided to rake up sensitive clemency issue of Afzal Guru. He further said to play politics on the clemency issue of Afzal Guru by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, MLA Abdul Rashid and others, to improve their vote bank within separatists and fundamentalist circles of the valley is bound to annoy other sections of the people in the state including nationalist forces. KPC Chief stated that tweeting mercy issue of Afzal Guru and adoption of resolution over it in the state Assembly is an attempt to subvert the Judicial process of the country He suggested to Kashmiri politicians that instead of playing regional card for vote bank purposes and politics to appease the militants and separatists, it would be in the interest of Omar Abdullah and his party National Conference to keep silence over the controversial issues and concentrate towards development of the state on the whole.
