Jammu–Srinagar Diocese holds all religions’ prayer meet

JAMMU, Oct 3:To celebrate the Silver jubilee of Jammu–Srinagar Diocese an ‘All Religions’ Prayer meeting was conducted in Carmel Convent School Kunjwani here today.
The theme of the prayer meeting was ‘Peace is Possible’.
Religious leaders (priests) from different religions including Hindu – Pandit Purshotam Sharma, Jain – Shreyanash Kumar Jain, Muslim – Maulana Mushtaq, Sikh –Harjeet Singh, Catholic Fr. Varkey, Buddhist – Cashinamgyal, Nirankari –Vikrant Dogra offered their prayers for peace.
The Vatican Ambassador Dr Salvatore Pennachio and. Dr. Peter Celestine OFM Cap were the Chief Guests.
The Bishop of Jammu – Srinagar Diocese presided over the meeting.
On the auspicious occasion, the members of the ‘Peace Clubs’ from Presentation Convent, St. Mary Smailpur, Kristu Jyoti Samba and the students of Carmel Convent, Kunjwani took the pledge to spread peace and live in harmony with themselves, with God and with their neighbours. Nearly 250 youth were present for this meeting together with their Principals.
