CB registers case in Yusuf killing | CJ refuses investigation by sitting judge | | Early Times Report jammu, Oct 3: The Chief Justice today rejected application of the state for getting National Conference (NC) worker, Muhammad Yusuf's alleged custodial death investigated by a sitting judge of the High Court. The Chief Justice said that the President of India or the Supreme Court can issue such a direction. However, the Crime Branch registered a case. However, the Crime Branch refused to divulge details of the FIR. The case was registered after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti accused the law enforcing agency of hushing up the case. The death of the NC worker in custody has evoked severe reaction from concerned quarters. The PDP has been agitating the matter in the legislative assembly. Mahbooba went to the extent of demanding resignation of former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, incumbent Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MoS Home Nasir Aslam Wani for their alleged involvement in the `murder'. Responding to Mahbooba's allegations, Omar said he was ready to face a judicial commission. He accused Mahbooba of launching a disinformation campaign against him and his father. |
