No scope for discussion on any issue which is sub-judice: Speaker
10/4/2011 9:09:52 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 4: The Speaker of Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone Tuesday said that under constitution there was no scope for discussion on any issue which was sub-judice.
Talking to KNS he said, “Government has already ordered judicial probe in the death of Sayeed Yousuf. If discussion on Yousuf’s death in the House would have been allowed it would have been considered as interference in judicial probe.”
“If opposition (PDP) would have asked that there was no need for judicial probe, then I could have allowed discussion,” he said.
Asked that questions were being raised on his impartiality after yesterday’s incident, Lone said, “So many leaders have given reference of how impartial I’m. I did what was in the best interests of the House.”
On usage of unparliamentarily language against PDP members, Lone said, “The member (Molvi Iftikhar Ansari) abused my relative and termed me as a hanji (fisherman). I replied in that context. I still regret what I said and I’ve already apologised for that.”
