UCF protests dilapidated condition of Abhinav theatre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 4:United Cultural Front, a union of twelve leading organizations of Jammu, working in the field of theatre, culture, language and literature, carried out a protest dharna here today at the premises of Abhinav Theatre complex under the leadership of noted writer-artist Mohan Singh, demanding immediate renovation of Abhinav Theatre in its 3rd phase. This dharna was in continuation to previous one, performed at same place on August 29 and September 19 in which immediate and appropriate action was demanded but, nothing has been done so far as renovation of Abhinav is concern. It shows the abstracted and totalitarian character of authorizes. It is very unfortunate and astonishing rather that people's servants are not bothering for people. Academy is not meant to amuse and grease high profile people. In spite, it is meant for the Conservation and development of art, culture and languages. Abhinav Theatre was opened for cultural activities just 32 year back in 1979. Now the condition of this unique and remarkable auditorium is horribly bad and miserable. Roof of the auditorium is covered with tent material which is helpless to stop rain water in the hall. Air conditioner has also been damaged with the negligence of authorities. All green rooms and guest rooms attached with Abhinav Theatre are illegally occupied by the staff of regional office. Large number of writers and artists joined the protest dharna and raised slogans in support of their just and genuine demands. Prominent among them were Narsing Jamwal, Shiv Dev Singh Sushil, Dhian Singh, Khalid Hussain, Mushtaq kak, Dr. Sushil Sharma, Gianeshwar, Hari Chand Jalmeria, Uday Chand, Janak Khajuria, master Akram, Vijay Mallah, Manoj Nishchant and Kumar A Bharti.
