| Psychology Department organises extension lecture | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 4: Department of Psychology University of Jammu organized a special extension lecture on “Psychological Issues of Emotional Abuse with special reference to children”, here today.
Retired Professor from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kerala Dr Sarada Sreedevi Amma was the chief guest while Director, Department of Life Long Learning, Dr Poonam Dhawan was the guest of honour and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof Jigar Mohammad presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Sarada Sreedevi Amma highlighted the need to be aware and accept the prevalence of this maltreatment.
She said that psychological interventions were discussed and displayed on how to cope and manage emotional abuse.
She further said that the need of the hour is to arouse social consciousness about the need for establishing psychological counseling centres at every educational institute panchayat level adding that the concerted efforts, attempts should be made to develop a comprehensive system that can effectively address the series of psychological issues.
Head P G Department of Psychology, Dr Arti Bakhshi, gave the welcome note and Assistant Professor, Ruby Charak, gave the formal vote of thanks.
A student of the department Bandana, conducted the programme.
Among those who were present on the occasion included Dr. Priyanka Katoch, Dr. C S Chandra besides faculty members, students and research scholars of the department
