MANUU to host international seminar on ‘Islamic Art & Culture’ | | | Early Times Report HYDERABAD, October : Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad in collaboration with Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi and Muslim Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO), Hyderabad is going to organize a 3-day international seminar from November 275 to 27 on ‘Islamic Art and Culture’ in Hyderabad. According to Professor Khalid Saeed, Organizing Secretary. Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Vice-President of India will inaugurate the seminar. The aims of the seminar are to discuss and share the research experiences about the cultural inter-connectedness of Islamic Civilization in the context of Arabia, Persia, Central Asia, South-east Asia and India. To discuss and trace the major components of evolution of Islamic Civilization and its final manifestation in the Indian Subcontinent. To discuss and deliberate upon the role of Persian and Central Asian agency to provide new ideas, intellectual input and various practices to Sufism. To highlight the inter-connectedness between cultural progresses that took place for Islam’s advent and after its proliferation into the India subcontinent. The Vice President of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari will inaugurate the seminar. “The seminar is being organized to highlight the different spheres of Islamic culture through different angles and also contribution of Muslims in different fields of life through the ages” said Professor Khalid Saeed, in a press release. The first two days programs will be held at MANUU campus while the last day program will be organized at Salar Jang Museum, Hyderabad. The topics for the papers include Muslim contribution in creating a pluralistic Society, Islamic influence on Indian Society, Sufi Movements in India & abroad, Role of Royal Courts in development of Regional languages, Concept of composite Culture, Various forms of Islamic Art, Islamic Architecture & Fine Arts in the Arab World, Islamic Architecture & Fine Arts in India, Main characteristics of the pre-Islamic native architecture and fine arts in Medieval India, Mughal School of painting. Subjects and techniques, Calligraphy as Islamic Art, Cultural heterogeneity and Islam. The papers must reach to the organizing committee before 24th Oct. 2011.
