Vinod Pandit to begin indefinite hunger strike on Oct 7 | | | EARLY TIMES Jammu, Oct 5: Several Dogra and Kashmiri Hindu organizations today constituted a13 member core committee to overlook the indefinite hunger strike of All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) chairman Vinod Pandit which he is all set to begin on October 7 near Press Club of Jammu at 11am. In a meeting held here today the leaders of several Jammu and Kashmir organizations while reiterating their support to APMCC indefinite hunger strike decide to constitute a core committee to supervise the agitation which they said would continue till their demands are met which include declaration of a time frame within which the government would take up their demands for finding final solution. This core committee would be authorized to formulate further strategy as well as expand the membership of the core committee depending upon the support that this agitation gets from various quarters, added the press note issued here. It may be recalled that APMCC had served an ultimatum upto September 30 to the government of J&K and Union Government to declare a time frame for initiating process of considering the 6 point charter of demands of APMCC for Hindus of J&K, otherwise Vinod Pandit would begin his indefinite hunger strike in support of his demands. APMCC leadership feels that the only way to make this government to listen was to resort to indefinite hunger strike till atleast the community gets a time frame from the government to consider their demands with sincerity. The six point charter of demands include pilgrimage to Shardha Peeth temple in Muzafarabad in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir as according to APMCC the recent foreign minister meeting between India and Pakistan calling for facilitation of religious pilgrimage to both sides of Kashmir as a strong Confidence Building measure (CBM) has given them a ray of hope that both the countries would also facilitate the visit of Hindus to their most revered temple of Shardhaa Peeth in Muzaffarabad area which is closed since 1947. It says that the opening of borders between the two countries has not helped the Hindus till date and they have been ignored in this scheme even though they too have strong religious and cultural connection with the other side of Kashmir. Second demand is of probe as land mafia along with some unscrupulous elements of various temple managements have indulged in massive encroachments and illegal selling of temple property in J&K. APMCcVeays that the temple property of Kashmiri temples alone was worth more than 500 crores and demanded a high leysmrobe into the whole scandal covering all the temples of the state from Lakhanpur to Aman Sethu in Uri. The core committee framed includes Dr Subash Gupta, President and Thakur Karnail Chand, Gen Secy Dharmarth Trust Sudhar Sangarsh Samiti, Preetam Sharma, Gen Secy J&K Kranti Dal, Rajiv Mahajan Ranjan, President Sri Ram Sena, Vikas Deewan, Gen Secy and Vikrant Kapoor, Sr Vice President Shiv Sena Hindustan, Vaid Gandotra, President Freedom Fighters Association, Harbans Choudhry, Gen Secy Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), BL Gupta, Gen Secy, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), Arun Kandroo, Ravinder Pandita and Sandeep Bhat.
