Special sanitation drive from Banganga to Bhawan reviewed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 5: Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, R K Goyal, accompanied by Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Additional CEO and a team of officers of the Board, today reviewed the progress on the ongoing Special Sanitation campaign launched for removing all the garbage/wastes which have accumulated over the years on the hill slopes along the Yatra route between Banganga and Bhawan. This campaign has been launched on the specific directions of N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is the Chairman of the Shrine Board, as part of the Board’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations. While taking stock of the status of the Special Sanitation Campaign, Goyal disclosed that so far over 3,000 bags of solid wastes have been collected while the work is going on speedily to clear these slopes of the wastes in the coming weeks. The Sector-wise Task Forces set up by the Board for this purpose have been supervising the operation of collection of solid wastes/garbage. The CEO, on way from Katra to the Bhawan, took stock of the progress on various ongoing development works aimed at facilitating the visiting pilgrims. He also discussed the measures being taken for augmenting the existing sanitation infrastructure by setting up additional toilet units along the track and also undertaking extensive renovation of the existing toilet blocks.At Bhawan, Goyal, on the auspicious occasion of Mahanavami, offered “Purna Ahuti” at the conclusion of the 8-day long Chhat Chandi Maha Yagya organized by the Shrine Board. He also interacted with the Yatris at the Bhawan and enroute and enquired about the facilities being made available to the pilgrims.
