| Nation wide strike against ‘anti-employees’ policies | | Employees to observe ‘Kaam Chor Hartal’on Dec 14 | | JAMMU DEC-07 The State Government employees under the banner of Joint plate form of Action have endorsed the one day All India strike on December 14, the call for which has been given by several trade union organizations and government employees associations to protest against the bankrupt socio economic policies of the Centre and the State Governments. Addressing a joint press conference here today, several employees leaders and trade unionists including Ram Kumar Sharma, Mohammed Gafoor, Balwan Singh and Moulvi Muneer Hussain have impressed upon all sections of government employees in Jammu and Kashmir including Civil Secretariat employees to observe one day ‘Kaam Chor Hartal’ on December 14 on common demands. However the operational staff of PHE, Power, Hospitals and Municipalities is exempted from the purview of the strike, these leaders added. . They alleged that the government’s anti employee policies have resulted in de- freezing of jobs, hire and fire contractual engagements, privatization of state-sector units and steep hike in prices of essential commodities. The employees leaders said that the main demands of the working class include implementation of 6th Pay Commission across the country, grant of Rs.1,000 as interim relief, restoration of pension scheme of government employees and workers, enhancing interest rate of GPF, regularization of all temporary staff, grant of 15 per cent dislocation allowance to employees posted outside home towns, introduction of proper medical scheme, revival of LTC, grant of disturbance allowance in favour of state employees on the pattern of Central government employees and enhancement of retirement age to 60 years.
