Temp dips as rains lash Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR: While hail storm was reported in hilly areas of south Kashmir, rains and thundershowers lashed Kashmir valley Wednesday, bringing a slight dip the mercury.
An official of local meteorological department here told Press Bureau of India that Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, was lashed with intermitted rainfall of 2.6mm from 0830 to 1730 hours.
The rains resulted in a slight dip in the day temperatures as it recorded 26.6 degrees Celsius against 28.4 Deg Cel yesterday, the weatherman said.
Qazigund, the gate town to Valley in south Kashmir witnessed 7.8mm of downpour while
Pahalgam, the world famous health resort in south Kashmir, had 0.8mm rainfall during the 12-hours.
Kokernag had 2.4mm of rainfall while Kupwara, the frontier north Kashmir district, had 3.9mm rain during the time.
Reports said that hail storm occurred in Keller area in Shopian and some parts of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the weatherman has predicted rain or thunder showers could occur in the Jammu and Kashmir Valley in next 24-hours. The weatherman has also predicted that the rain may be accompanied by gusty winds.
