Police Inspector in Kishtwar booked for rape charges on his housemate | Accused inspector pledged innocence, says handiwork of his wife | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Oct 5: In a shocking incident, 17 years old housemate accuses a senior police Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir police Vijay Kumar Bhagat for attempting rape on her when she was alone at home. According to the reports, after receiving a complaint from the complainant who was accompanied by the wife of accused police Inspector, Kishtwar police swung into action and arrested the accused inspector for committing rape on her house mate. The complainant in his complaint stated that she was working as house inmate at the residence of accused Vijay Kumar Bhagat and when she was alone at home, the accused taking plea of his aloneness at home since the wife of the accused is outside the home in connection with official duty at Padder. She stated that the accused first enter into the bathroom, where the complainant was washing the clothes. The complainant further said that the accused first tried to exploit her sexually inside the bathroom itself. She said that after raising objection, the accused first threatened her and later overpowered her in his bedroom and committed rape on her. She said that after committing rape on her, the accused once again threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter before anyone. She said that after threatening her, the accused bundled her and dropped her at her parental house. She said that after reaching home, she narrated the whole episode to the wife of accused on phone, who (Wife of accused) without wasting any time reached Kishtwar and took her from her parental house and lodged a complaint against the accused at police station Kishtwar and also brought the matter into the notice of senior police officer at Jammu as well as in Kishtwar. After receiving the complaint from the complainant, Kishtwar police registered case FIR No: 276 U/S 376 RPC and arrested the accused. Police also conducted the medical examination of the victim from District Hospital Kishtwar, the detail report of which is still awaited. When contacted accused Vijay Kumar Bhagat before his arrest has termed it as the handiwork of his wife. He said that he had developed some personal difference with his wife, who according to the accused police Inspector planted the girl at his residence and later motivated her to accuse him of the rape. He said that he after finding the character of the complainant suspected, he asked his wife that he is not going to tolerate her at his home and instead asked his wife to send her back to maternal home. He said that when his wife was outside, he found the attitude of the complainant suspicious as a result of which he bundled her and handed over his custody to her parents. Vijay questioned that why she didn't disclose the matter before her parents and instead narrated the things to his wife. He said that why the complainant didn't approach to police along with her parents and instead preferred to wait for his wife to go to police station for lodging the complaint against him in police station Kishtwar. He said that the complainant and his wife have already fixed the match and he fell prey to it. He said that, he is innocenct and have not committed any rape on the complainant. He said that he is hopeful that he will prove his innocence before the honorable court once he was booked for the offence which according to Vijay Kumar Bhagat, he had never committed. A senior police official in Kishtwar confirmed the arrest of the accused and refused to divulge any details other than the registration of the FIR. |
