Eyewitness exposes "murky trail of payoffs in J&K politics" | Yousaf's mysterious death: | |
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 05: Throwing new light on what might have happened on September 29 last at the Srinagar residence of chief minister Omar Abdullah that led to the mysterious death of NC worker Mohammad Yousaf, Abdul Salam Reshi, an eyewitness, today made certain revelations to a national news channel, exposing alleged murky trail of payoffs in state politics. Reshi alleged that Yousaf had given Rs 85 lakh but that time there was no talk of why he had given the money. No one discussed that there. The only thing Yousuf said was that until Dr Farooq returned, he could not give the money. This was the conversation. When his attention was drawn towards the point that people generally hesitated to expose political corruption and he ought to take the initiative, he said, "They took Rs 34 lakh from me. That was the amount I gave them in February. After February, for this, I would meet the CM myself. I got the money back after 2, or 3 days. I will give the complete account in court when the matter is taken up. It is better for me that way. Yes I've given the money, I got it back too and whatever is remaining - I have left it to god. So whatever I am yet to say it will be better if I don't hide anything. Whatever I have told you is the truth." Reshi said even IGP (crime) could be asked about it as he had been given a written statement. When Yousaf gave his statement he said he had spoken directly to Dr Farooq. "He wrote it in his statement and that is what he told me too," he added. Dr Farooq told him to keep 'one for the big job' and '50 for the small job'. Yousuf told him, it was a big job so he had given Dr Farooq 85 and 15 were remaining. In reply to a query, he said, "Small job means an MLC while a big job means a minister - an MLC minister. If one had to become a minister, one needed to pay Rs 1 cr, Reshi alleged. |
