12 fresh PoK guests arrive, only 1 cross to other side | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 6 : As many as 12 guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while only one Kashmiri crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947.
Nineteen returnees also crossed sides in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, official sources told UNI this afternoon.
They said 12 guests, including five women, arrived at Kaman Post, the last Indian military post on the LoC in Uri sector after crossing the Aman Setu bridge on foot this afternoon.
A Kashmiri, who had gone to PoK, also returned back after completing stay with his relatives.
They said a Kashmiri crossed over to other side to meet his relatives in PoK.
However, 18 PoK residents, who had arrived here in previous buses, also returned to their homes after their stay in Kashmir with their relatives.
The bus, operating since April 7, 2005, was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, to enable the divided families to meet each other after both India and Pakistan agreed to allow them to travel on special permits, instead of International passport.
However, the special permits are being issued only after both the countries cleared the names of travellers.
