| 3 narcotics smugglers held, 4.5 Kgs contraband recovered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 6:Jammu Police succeeded in apprehending yet another group of valley-based drug smugglers along with a consignment of four and a half kilograms of charas.
During intensified checking on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Jhajjar Kotli Police intercepted a Tata sumo bearing registration no.JK13 A-5325 on its way from Valley to Jammu at Domail naka point and upon suspicion subjected it to thorough checking.
While checking all the three charas smugglers tried to escape but the alert and active police personnel apprehended them and a unique modus operandi of concealing the contraband in specially made cavities in the door ceilings of the vehicle came to fore. Four and a half kilograms of charas was recovered from the specially made cavities in the door ceilings of the vehicle. The arrested charas smugglers have been identified as Rafiq Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Wahab Bhat of Kheram Bijbehara, Ifthikhar Ahangar son of Abdul Aziz of Seer Ananatnag, .Shabir Ahmed son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir of Seer Ananatnag. The vehicle and the contraband were seized on spot.
A case FIR no 153/11 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and further investigation is going on to ascertain the source of the contraband and the target to whom the delivery was to be made.
