11 cattle rescued, two bovine smugglers held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 6:Police arrested two valley-bound bovine smugglers and saved eleven cattle from being smuggled to the valley in a truck. During routine checking on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Domail, Jhajjar kotli police intercepted a truck bearing registration no HR 38D-1918 that was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar and subjected it to thorough checking upon suspicion. During checking, Naka party recovered eleven cattle from the vehicle which were being smuggled to the valley and arrested two bovine smugglers including the driver of the truck who tried to escape but were chased and apprehended by the alert and active police personnel on the naka. The arrested bovine smugglers have been identified as Mahammad Abdullah son of Mohammad Hussain of Mandli Billawar, district Kathua and Mahammd Farooq son of Shamsdin of Phinter Billawar, district Kathua. The truck used for transporting the bovines was confiscated and the cattle also taken into custody. A case FIR No 154/2011 u/s 188 RPC/ 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation is going on.
