Will Congress high command take moral high ground in J&K? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 6 : UP chief Minister Mayawati sacked two of her cabinet ministers while responding to the indictment by the state Lokayukata against one and facing the anti graft probe by the other one. Of course this action of Ms Mayawati is the outcome of Anna's expected fast before the U.P elections. J&K state at present on the one hand faces the external threats of intrusion and militancy and on the other hand is emerging as the "Corruption Den "of politicians & bureaucrats. This has caused unlimited loss to the state and the common man in particular. The present coalition government of the state has shown its worst face of governance while as the Chief Minister is facing allegations of calling three party workers to his residence one of whom dies after coming out of his residence in Srinagar. Except one, almost all faces of Congress in the present coalition government badly failed to emerge as clean or even remotely less corrupt. One such face from valley is carrying on his corrupt agenda without any hurdle despite have been forced to leave the ministerial post on corruption charges against him by a sitting MLA. With a little difference, same is the case with other coalition partners of the government i.e. NC. Exposures of some big scams like the nexus of politicians-police officers involved in land grabbing were made in the recent past but no probe order was issued from the Chief Minister despite public requests. Similarly almost total hue & cry is being raised from every corner of the state against the defunct and corrupt practice related to the issues of school education, large scale deforestation of forests and the poor health care despite of unlimited central funds. Recent exposure of corruption episode at CM residence has shaken faith of the common man and also it is being seen as suspense responsible for the delay in activating the "State Accountability Commission", "State Vigilance Commission" & the "State Information Commission". But it is time to act for UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to decide the fate of Chief Minister and her party's tainted faces in state government. The question is whether or not UPA chairperson will act true to her reputation taking the high moral ground? |
