Farooq's support to Omar is a joke: Mahbooba | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 6: Responding to former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah's tirade against the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), Mahbooba Mufti said his support of Omar was unacceptable. "It is a joke on the masses especially on the supporters of his party", she said. Describing Farooq Abdullah as a senior and venerated leader of the state and country, Mufti said his statement was an aberration. Abdullah had said the NC had nothing to hide. "We have nothing to hide. It is a political stunt. They (PDP) want power that is why they are leveling charges against us." Farooq lamented that the PDP had spared the Congress party. "We are running a coalition government but PDP is attacking only National Conference", he said. Defending his son, Faqooq said: "It was Omar, who on his own, ordered a judicial inquiry. Truth will come out in the judicial inquiry." Mahbooba, however, said the issue ahd not been taken for the first time. "The NC is lying. The CCTV footage shows everything", she said. "If such things happen in the CM's (Chief Minister's) house, then, how can people be safe in the state. We need the thorough investigation We are first ones to draw attention towards the massive corruption in the state. There is lack of law and order," she added. Mufti also questioned the state government's contention of a judicial inquiry being ordered into the death of National Conference worker Syed Mohammad Yousuf. Omar Abdullah is in real trouble over the death of Yousuf, who died allegedly in police custody. The deceased was accused by two party workers of taking Rs.1.18 crore from them for getting them berths in the Legislative Council. |
