Minister gets BMW in "gift" | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 6: Local news agency Kashmir News Service today reported that a Minister of Omar Abdullah's cabinet in Jammu and Kashmir has got a high-end luxury BMW "in gift" from a company that had been allotted to provide 2500 solar lights in each of the districts in J&K. The vehicle, that the Minister has been openly driving, is said to be costing around Rs 50 Lakhs. In a joint venture, union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources, led by Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Ministry of Science and Technology in Jammu & Kashmir have taken up a programme of installing solar charged light units in several districts of J&K. According to KNS, 2500 units have to be provided by a company and subsequently to be installed by some NGOs operated by the ruling National Conference (NC) activists. |
