Govt expanding latest sports services in the state: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, OCTOBER 07-Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today said that the government is expanding latest sports infrastructural facilities to every part especially rural pockets of the state to give new dimensions to the sports map of J&K. This was stated by the Minister while chairing a function of wrestling competition organized by the Akhnoor Dangal Committee at Akhnoor. During the competition, the wrestlers from Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and J&K participated. The wrestler Mr Rubal from Khanna, Ludhiana, won the match while another wrestler Mr Abdul Gani from Malhar Kotala Punjab was the runner up of the competition. The winner got Rs.20,000 a award while Rs.15,000 were given to runner up. Meanwhile in the second bout Mr Vinay from Dudu-Basantgarh district Udhampur won the match and received a cash prize of Rs.15,000 while the loser Mr Vicky from Delhi was given to Rs.10,000. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the committee for organizing the wrestling in this area as it would greatly help the rural sports persons to exhibit their talent. “This will also help in promoting friendly relation of the state with other parts of the country”, he added. He hoped that the committee will continue such efforts to encourage the sports talent in the state. He also informed that a sports stadium at Palam, Akhnoor is being constructed at Akhnoor to facilitate the budding sports talent of the area. Highlighting various development works executed in the area, the Minister said that a 4-lane road from Jammu to Akhnoor would be constructed soon to further strengthen the road net work in the area. |
