Omkara wins Pallanwala ‘Dangal title’ | | | Early Times report PALLANWALA, October 7 : Wrestler Omkara defeated Sukhbir to clinch Pallanwala Wrestling title in a tough fight that lasted for 20 minutes. Watched over by 6,000 wrestling enthusiasts who vociferously applauded every trick employed by the two wrestlers during the 10-minute title-bout. The Wrestling competition was organized by Pallanwala Dangal Committee at the Government Higher Secondary School Pallanwala. Every year the competition is held on the day of Vijaydashmi. This was the 11th competition in the series. A total of 42 bouts were fought. In fact, it was the fight for the second prize between Kulbir Singh and Bahadur Singh which was the best bout of the competition. The jam packed ground came to life when Kulbir matted Bahadur in a highly professional manner to win the title. Amit won the third prize. All the winners were awarded the cash prize and the traditional Mallis. On the occasion, old wrestlers of the area were also honoured and presented a Pagri and a shawl. Sawarn Singh, Sarpanch, Sudershan Kumar Secretary, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jeet Raj Kalsi, AD BSNL and Prof. Hans Raj were among those present on the occasion.
