We will promote local cricketing”: CRPF

Kulgam, Oct 7: In order to engage youth in sports activities, promote local cricketing talent and bring the CRPF and the local population closer, CRPF 18 BN organized ‘Shaheed Asfaq Ullah Khan’ Cricket tournament under the aegis of Ops Sector Kashmir, in which total of 8 teams from Kulgam district participated in the tournament.
The matches were conducted in accordance with the rules of IPL T-20.
A total of 7 matches were played at Sports Stadium, Kulgam. Four teams namely ‘Kings Eleven’, ‘N.C.C. Noomai’, ‘Khan Cricket Club’ and ‘Tiger Eleven’ made it to the Semi Finals.
More than 1000 locals of Kulgam District including a large number of civil and state Government dignitaries came to witness the finals of the tournament.
The final match was played between Tigers Eleven Pahloo and Kings Eleven Kulgam with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit and at the end Tigers Eleven Pahloo emerged as the Champions of the tournament by defeating Kings Eleven Kulgam by 23 runs of 9 wickets.
Nadeem of Tigers Eleven Pahloo was declared as the ‘Man of the Series’ for his splendid performance throughout the series. Prizes and certificates of participation were presented to the budding talents by the dignitaries. D.L. Gola, DIGP (Ops) Kulgam, CRPF was the Chief Guest of the occasion. He presented the runners/winners trophies with a cash amount of Rs.5000/- to runners and Rs.10,000/- to the winners of the Tournament. He also assured that CRPF will organize such tournament to promote local youths in future also. He also praised the concerted efforts put in by the Commandant 18 Bn CRPF A.H.Ansari with his team of officers/men who had organized the tournament in a befitting manner among the people of Kulgam District.
