Farmers resent against govt’s nonchalance | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kathu, Oct 7: The Kisaan Ekta Munch took out a massive procession and Dharna at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park in support of their demand to open the procurement centre, to curtail the fertilizer rates, and to formulate an effective and result oriented agriculture policy. While speaking on the occasion farmers delivered their serious concerns over the injustice with farmers’ community and the no serious approaches of the government towards the opening of the procurement centre. They accused the government for deliberately adopting a policy to cause the harassment to the farmers, as the produce of the farmers gets wasted and damaged every year in huge quantity and the private payers of the market forcibly plunder the produce of the farmers at very cheap rate. The leading farmer Mohinder Singh urged the coalition government to open the procurement centre in order to keep the farmers produce safe and to provide the adequate rate per quintal. They said that farmers have been fighting for the last many years to get the actual rate fixed by the centre govt. of their paddy produce at Rs 1080 and the opening of the procurement centers in the state through JAKFED but the coalition government has never shown its fundamental duty towards the farmers to solve their problems which has caused frustration and resentment among the farmers.
