3rd Jammu Marathon to be held on Nov 13

Jammu, October 07: The Board of Development for Sports in India will organize the 3rd Jammu Marathon. The 3rd Jammu Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 13. This was disclosed by the Director of BDSI, Amit Sethi today.
Sethi told the reporters that the 3rd Jammu Marathon will start from Satwari Chowk at 8.00 a.m. and passing through Vikram Chowk, Fly Over Bridge, Rehari Chungi & Ambphalla to culminate at the out skirts of Palace Hari Niwas. He told to reporters that all type of arrangements will be made for the participants en route. He hoped that thousands of peoples will join the 3rd Jammu Marathon like the earlier ones.
Earlier the Board Members welcomed Anil Gupta (Annu) as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Board of Development for Sports in India. They hoped that the joining of Anil Gupta (Annu) as the Chairman of Organizing Committee will boost the network of BDSI and people from all parts of the state will enjoy the benefits.
Gupta also thanked the BDSI and assured his full support in their future projects. He disclosed the series of prizes for the participants of 3rd Jammu Marathon. He announced a prize of Rs. 210007- for the winner, Rs. 110007- for the 1st runner-up and Rs. 51007- for the 2nd runner-up. Apart from these a number of lucky gifts will be distributed among the participants.
He told the reporters that any one above 14 years of age can take part in the Marathon. It is open for both men & women and the prizes will be distributed in both catagories. The Marathon will end at Palace Hari Niwas, where the prizes will be distributed among the winners.
Annu told the reporters that the purpose of organizing the Jammu Marathon is not only to encourage sports and sportsmen, but also to promote sports as a life style in the state. Apart from this the 3rd Jammu Marathon is held to remember to glory of the Jammuities, who have long history of patriotism. Many of the Jammu heroes have not been promoted in the normal course of history and through this Marathon people would like to remember the great heroes of the state, who have worked hard to save ancient and glorious culture of this region like Mian Diddo, General Zorawar Singh, K.L. Sehgal and Dinu Bhai Pant etc. Through this Marathon we would like to involve the younger generation to carryout the message and teachings of the Jammu heroes and to understand the rich culture and heritage of the state.
He told the reporters that it is for this reason we have finalised the slogan for 3rd Jammu Marathon as "Run for Jammu, Run for Pride".
Surjeet Singh Chib, Sagar Gupta, Sanjay Gupta and Veerain Kaul were also present in the press conference.
