Woman makes abortive bid to commit suicide | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 8: In a high voltage drama, a house wife today attempted suicide by jumping from the Tawi bridge near Gujjar Nagar locality but survived the attempt.
Eyewitnesses said that a woman was spotted by the people while jumping from the bridge and soon they raised alarm, following which people gathered at saved the middle aged women.
As the commuters reached the spot, to their surprise they found that she was conscious and had survived the attempt to kill herself. When people reached near her, eyewitnesses said, the woman was conscious and she even resisted of being rescued.
As soon as cops reached the spot, she started beating the police personnel, and abused them.
Later the cops shifted her to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar for treatment where doctors declared her as mentally unsound. Sources said that no case in this connection was registered since the woman was declared not fit for the statement.
“We have informed the family members of the women about the incident and investigation has been launched against the circumstances under which she made attempt”, said a police official.
It is important to note that bridges on the Tawi River have become a suicide point and in recent past many people have jumped from the bridge. At times many of them have survived the attempts but so far administration has not made any attempt to put fencing to prevent such incidents.
