BJP-NPP's silence over killing of shah draws flak
10/8/2011 11:53:57 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: As the killing of NC worker Mohd Yousf shah has rocked the state with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demanding resignation of chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for the involvement of official machinery in the killing of NC worker and involvement of the party in cash for vote scam, the stoic silence maintained by BJP and National Panthers Party legislators on the floor of the house has exposed the two parties before the public.
No doubt that the person killed was the worker of NC but seeing the gravity of the matter all opposition parties were supposed to corner the Government on the issue and demand its resignation as the needle of suspension was pointing towards security men posted at CM's residence.
According to sources the people have also viewed seriously the role of two opposition parties in the state and criticized them not protesting against the issue vociferously.
There was no question of political upmanship and the two parties would lose nothing by raising the issue said Giyan Chand of Udhampur who was shocked hearing the involvement of CM's security men in killing of Mr. Shah. If the people in higher offices indulge in such activities where from the common man can expect justice. Moreover when the opposition parties too will maintain a silence over such barbaric and inhuman acts where from one can seek justice, he asked. Mohd. Shafi Choudary a political activist from Marwah Kishtwar while condemning the role of coalition on the issue said The BJP and NPP have also failed to discharge their political responsibility on this major issue which has rocked the entire Country. "Cash for vote scam" is itself a crime and eliminating the whistle blower who exposes such scams is a double crime. The BJP while claims to cherish noble principles should have launched a State-wide movement and exposed the Government but if failed to do so. This shows that both BJP and NPP are hand in glove with NC as Party has failed to discharge their duty towards the Country.
He said if opposition parties fail to take cognizance of such type of highhanded by the ruling coalition then no one can save democracy from perishing.
Choudhary said mere issuance of statement is not enough but the two parties should understand their moral responsibility and should have taken on with the Government for the larger interests of justice.
He said State is already facing turmoil for last 22 years and NC leaders are blamed for forcing youth to take to arms by beating some youth leaders in police lock up and when Party will again indulge in such activities and opposition parties will not break their silence the situation instead of improving will further deteriorate in the State.
