SAI Club boys, NIS girls win Kho-Kho finals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 09: The SAI Club clinched the boys’ title while girls’ trophy went to NIS Club in the two-day Jammu District Junior Kho-Kho Championship, organised by J&K Kho-Kho Association at Green Field ground, here today. In the well contested boys’ final, SAI Club trounced NIS Club 9-5 this evening. The third place went to Diamond Club after they defeated Miran Sahib Club 4-1 points in the hardliner. Earlier, in the girls’ title contest, NIS Club defeated SAI Club by a wafer thin margin of one point with final score on board being 6-5. In the hardliner, Presentation Convent outplayed Miran Sahib Club by 9-7. Later, the organizers declared Harjeet of SAI Club and Ritu Devi of NIS Club as best boy and girl of the tournament on the basis of their performance. In the final and prize distribution function, former Minister, Harban Singh was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Speaking to the participating teams, Minister asked them to work hard and excel in the what-ever game they play. Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Bhupinder Singh Tirthi presented detailed report of the two-day competition. He assured the distinguished gathering of senior players and coaches as also the participants that efforts would be made to hold domestic activities on regular basis. The matches were officiated by penal of experts including Dheeraj Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ajit Singh, Rahi Jamwal, Vishal Malhotra, Abhishek, Suresh Kumar and Lakhwinder Singh.
