J&K women lose by 123 runs in women’s cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Host Jammu and Kashmir made a poor start after they suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Haryana on the opening day of the North Zone inter-district women’s cricket tournament at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here today. Earlier, over confident J&K won the toss and asked Himachal to bat first. The visiting women set a big target of 195 runs losing all their wickets in 45 overs of the 50-over match. Negi remained top scorer with 59 runs while TD Raj contributed 32 runs. From J&K, SR Jamwal was most successful bowler with six wickets. In reply, J&K succumbed to the opponent bowling making just 72 runs in 24 overs thereby suffered a big defeat on home turf. Opener, R S Jamwal, who earlier bowled well, could show some resistance to the Himachal bowlers and contributed highest 14 runs. Nusrat Sheikh added 13 runs. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Haryana defeated Delhi by eight wickets. Batting first, Delhi bowled out for 85 runs in 41 overs. In reply, Haryana attained the goal making 89 runs for the loss of just two wickets sparing 14 overs of their innings.
