| Ishar XI, Simula XI win ties in Diwali League | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 9: Ishar XI and Simula XI won their respective matches to strengthen their position in the ongoing Diwali Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Championship at MA Stadium, here today.
In the first match of the day, Simula XI made 160 runs for the loss of six wickets with Irshad and Vikram being top scorers contributing 54 and 41 runs respectively. Sameer Khajuria added 35 runs. In reply, Doordarshan XI could not chase the total and lost the match.
Meanwhile, in another match, Ishar XI registered a nine-wicket win over J&K Police XI. Earlier, batting first, Police set a target of 123 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Amit Sharma was the top scorer with 40 runs while Rajesh Gill contributed 31 runs. From Ishar XI Arshad took three wickets while Mohd Saleem bagged two and one wicket respectively.
Later, Ishar XI chased the target in 13.2 overs losing just one wicket. Opener Atul and Yasir played superb innings of 54 and 50 runs respectively.
