| Khadi Gramodyog exhibition at Udhampur | | |

To enhance marketing of Khadi products, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in collaboration with Khadi Gramodyog Sewa Sansthan, Jammu is organizing a 10-day long District Level Khadi Gramodyog Exhibition at Town Hall Udhampur which would last upto December 16.
About 20 Khadi and Village industrial units drawn from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir provinces are taking part in the exhibition for sale of their products like Namdas, Gabbas, Kaleen, blankets, shawls and other garments on 30 per cent discount. However rebate on Reeled Silk products would be 20 per cent and 10 per cent on Pashmina goods.
The Additional DDC Udhampur, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat inaugurated the exhibition.
State Director, KVIC Jammu, Mr. Trilok Chand, Secretary Khadi Gramodyog Sewa Sansthan, Jammu, Mr. Rajesh Bakshi and officers of Khadi and Village Industries Board were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khurshid lauded the efforts of KVIC in organizing the exhibition at Udhampur for the first time,which would go a long way in promoting the products of local artisans besides substantiating their income. He called for involvement of rural poor especially the women folk in this industry by providing them technical know-how so that the economic status of rural poor could be raised.
Director, KVIC in his address said that the organization is doing level best to provide employment to rural artisans at their doorsteps. He called for using the Khadi products as these are of standard quality besides cheaper in rates and comfortable as well. Maximum efforts have been initiated by the KVIC and KVIB jointly for enhancing marketing of products so that the dastkars could earn handsome money of their products.
The Khadi institutions taking part in the exhibition include Kashmir Dastkar Anjuman, Srinagar, Khadi Gramodyog Samiti, Sogam, Shri Gandhi Sewa Sadan, Ghandi Bhawan, Jammu, Shri Gandhi Sewa Ashram, Udhampur, Rural Employment Gurantee Programme (REGP) Unit, KVIB, Udhampur, Mahila Gramin Haskala Welfare Sadan, Bishnah, Vitasta Khadi Gramodyog Santha, Jammu besides stalls of Army Wives Welfare Association, Udhampur and Shakti Honey, Jammu.
