Heroic salutations to a departed brave heart friend
Tributes to a martyr

JAMMU, Oct 10: A befitting tribute to the illustrious friend who laid down his life as a martyr for his motherland was a perfect salutation by his University colleagues who had assembled outside Dhanvantri Library of the JU today.
Emotions ran high as friends, family members and other people from various walks of life joined in a tribute ceremony of martyred Lt. Sushil Khajuria as introductory lectures, homages by Capt. Anil Khajuria, elder brother of Sushil Khajuria,Col Sharma, a family friend, university professors, heart touching speeches by friends, musical presentations, his character sketch and pen pictures by his loved ones, patriotic songs, national anthem and a host of other homages were presented on the occasion which turned out to be the 'most apt tribute'' to the martyr.
Hailing from Sangwali village in the Ghagwal area of Samba district, Sushil Khajuria was commissioned into the Army on March 20, 2010. He was attached with the 18 Grenadiers and was posted in the Kupwara sector.
Lt Sushil Khajuria, commissioned in the Indian army in March 2010 was participating in the anti-insurgency operation launched in Trehgam area of Kupwara since September 26. He attained martyrdom on September 27 after killing two militants from close range and himself fell to the bullets of militants, who had taken shelter behind the natural caves.
Khajuria was martyred while fighting a group of heavily armed ultras in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on September 27. Khajuria killed three ultras before being hit by AK- 47 bullets fired by the terrorists
An initiative by the students of Jammu University to honour their illustrious friend was a unique and noteworthy effort of the students of JU which was neatly coordinated. The faculties under the varsity were postered with the details of organized event. Around 1000 of the campus students gathered in front of the central library at 1700 hrs.
Today when we stand midst all the miseries with a tempest of emotions running high, we still feel so complete, so honoured that we were blessed with a Brave heart in our family was the version of the Khajuria family that has lost their son
All the members of the Khajuria family were indebted to his friends for the tireless efforts in remembering his sacrifice.
