10/12/2011 12:20:09 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 11:The activists of NPP today held a massive demonstration outside the office of Director School Education Jammu alleging large scale irregularities and lapses in the working of the said directorate. Shouting slogans outside the DSE Jammu, the NPP workers lambasted the Deptt. for inordinate and in-explicable delay in the finalization of RET selections which were kept pending for years together.
They said that there was large scale resentment against the deptt. and Directorate of School Education for withholding selections of RETs for years together despite the fact that the same were required to be cleared and disposed within days.
They protestors alleged vested interest, malafides and extraneous considerations in the wrongful and unjustified delay in clearance of eligible cases under RET Scheme.
The NPP activists further claimed that hundreds of schools opened during 2010 in different districts of Jammu region could not be made functional despite lapse of around 18 months because of the criminal delay caused in the Directorate of School Education.
Pushvinder Singh Manhas (sr. state vice president, Young Panthers) and Pawan Dev Singh (sr.leader Young Panthers) condemned the Deptt. for its failure to initiate any action with regard to the implementation of SSA plan for 2011.
They regretted total failure of RMSA scheme which had not even taken off in the state despite its launch three years back throughout the country.
They accused the Deptt. of withholding funds for construction of new buildings and model schools and infrastructure creation for existing schools under RMSA for three years and depriving the general public of the due benefits of the said schemes.
They alleged lack of criteria in the allocation of funds under state sector of School Education and sought details of the releases made during the last two years and modus operandi adopted for the purpose.
They further flayed the Deptt for faulty transfer policy and accused the Deptt. of working on pick and choose and under extraneous considerations.
They rebuked the Deptt. for its failure to hold even a single selection under RET pattern for rural areas facing chronic deficiency of staff despite a special policy in this regard having been announced by the State Cabinet in August 2010 for Backward Areas.
The NPP leaders warned to hold demonstrations against the Deptt. on a large scale in case all pending selections under RET pertaining to the previous year were not finalized by the next ten days.
They further announced to hold demonstrations outside the civil secretariat and School Education Minister’s residence in case the pending files in the Directorate of School Education Jammu were not immediately cleared and construction of School buildings under RMSA announced for the year 2009 and 2010 were not taken up at the earliest.
